That was my first reaction when I heard the news. At the very least, the letterer should have used words like "cant", "fack", "shut" and "batch". And believe me when I say that I am not blaming the letterer at all. He was given a job to do and he did it. Someone in charge over there should have been the grownup and said "This might not be a good idea."

The blame goes firmly on Frank Miller, and the editors who indulged him. I'm betting an angry parody of the "Goddamned Batman" was not what DC thought it was going to get.
But by the same token I think my response to Keith would be: how exactly do you say "no" to the goddamned Frank Miller?
