QUESTION...

..for the 10 readers or so of this "blog" (ha):

I'm looking to start chronicling my comic collection starting from the earliest comics I own in an attempt to lay out just how my understanding of this super-mythology developed. Remember that scene in High Fidelity where Rob is organizing his collection into the order he purchased them? It's like that.

So my question is: Do I write it down here on this blog as an ongoing project or do I use the method that I've come to love and do well at: podcasting. If I podcast, it would be a mix of the Uncanny X-Cast's Retro Reviews with a splash of Derek Coward's Reader Feed covered in a whole lot of CGS Footnotes.

So which do I do?

  • Why not do both? You could use the blog to organize your thoughts, which would give those "10 or so" of us the chance to see the process, and then you could record for those who don't stalk you here.

  • I could do that - as long as it's not the same amount of work for each. But an outline on the blog and the rest on the podcast would be cool.

  • My first vote was for podcast but the outline here and some specifics on a podcast sounds interesting.

  • If you can include images, I'd love to see it as a blog. Either way, it sounds like a fun project.

  • I'd like to see it as a podcast, but if you had some area that you don't think was covered sufficiently enough, then you can write about it in more detail on the blog.

Which actually sounds like a really good idea and one that I might steal now that I said it.

  • I say blog. Maybe even do them chronologically. If blogger let's you edit the date/time of the post, make your first post the month of your first comic. Then work forward or whatever. When you're done (would you ever be?) you would have a nice chronological list.

  • Derek - feel free!

Duncan - not sure if Blogger can do that. If it can, it might send the first post way off the main screen - so not sure I want people to have to look for it. But it'll definitely be chronological regardless.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

  • I like the combo idea as well - a simple outline that could be posted with the posting of the podcast so we could follow along! I think this is a great idea - i've often wondered what caused the near obsessive database you have in your head - can't wait to find out!

  • Sounds to me like something that should be written. Not sure why; allows for more introspection maybe? Of course both would be fine too :)
